CopyTrack is a scammer and extorts money from panicked website owners accusing them of copyright breach. There is no cease and desist or warning that a copyright image has been used – just a harsh letter of demand with an invoice. I panicked when I received the first email and paid the $601.45 rather than be threatened with legal action. I then did a lot of research on google and my heart sank to read that you just need to ask them to prove their claim and they will close your case. When the 2nd letter of demand for $1,600 arrived, I decided that I would put up a fight. I used ChatGPT to compose a letter asking them to prove that they had rights to the image. Of course they don’t have rights, so have now decided to close my case. I’ve just saved myself another $1,600 on their scam.
I spent 4 days in complete panic with my heart racing, headache and absolute fear while I worried about whether to pay the $1,600. It’s probably taken years off my life. How dare they!!
If you receive a letter of demand, upload it to ChatGPT and ask it to compose a dispute letter. It spits out a fabulous response asking them to prove ownership of the image via chain of custody. It mentions that there was no warning and request to cease and desist, which is considered reasonable practise for such claims.
Don’t fall for this like I did!!
